Ah! Just a couple of hours after writing my previous post, i read another article on The Star that proves me right again...The BN government is a health hazard and a risk factor for some of the more serious illnesses suffered by mankind.
Now where the hell did this come from? Sime Darby wanting a stake in IJN? Damn the bloody BN regime!
I am damn sure that this privatization idea did not just appear like the "eureka" phenomenon, out of thin air. Someone mooted this idea, that would have then gone through some high level brain storming and cable connecting. It would have then been put through a nuanced screening and filtering process involving lot's of calculators. Then, once the appropriate amount that fit each other's pockets were derived, the offer would have been made...for the sake "transparency".
Who mooted this idea?
Who were the parties involved in the high level brain storming and who were the cables and who did these cables link?
What is the size of the stake that Sime Darby is asking for?
Who gave the go ahead for this bid?
Was the cabinet aware of this bid?
Was the PM / DPM aware of this?
Is it going to benefit the public?
Is it going to benefit the government?
I guess we all have names and answers of sorts running in the back of our minds right now.
Some possible outcomes of IJN's privatization:
1. From a service orientated establishment, IJN will become a profit orientated business.
2. A loss (whatever the amount) of government subsidy, which in turn means higher treatment cost for patients. N.B: Treating heart ailments is not cheap and invasive procedures are even more costly.
3. Government servants and their family members lose their privilege for discounted / free treatment.
4. Lesser options for proper treatment with reasonable cost, especially for the middle and lower income group (and we have less than ten government cardiac centres in Malaysia).
5. Higher salary and lesser work load for the doctors and staff.
6. Downsizing of departments and sectors deemed unnecessary for a private medical centre leading to job cuts.
7. Sime Darby and all their political 'cables' will be singing their way to the bank, leaving it to fate to take care of the poor.
In one word: Unscrupulous
Leave IJN alone! Leave the poor some hope Najib!

Doc,U remember recently ada newspaper article keluar saying heart attack will be the number one killer disease by 2010?
Instead of our government stepping up measures to be ready to help as many rakyat as possible,'somepeople' are already thinking of making profits!
For the very rich, yeah you can pay for the services if IJN is privatised. For those who cant, please go the bomohs or just prepare to leave Earth quickly!
Save the very rich first! No money no talk!No money,go and die lah!
Wah,new IJN slogans ker?
Dr. Saravanan,
If the media had not covered this news, I am sure those greedy goons would have bamboozled to get their way. This whole privatization plan was definitely mooted by heartless creatures who have no qualms about letting people die or suffer just so that their evil designs come to pass!!! Even animals know how to take care of their herd/pack but these idiots are worse than animals!!!
Thank you for outlining the possible outcomes for us to see the implications more clearly.
These idiots have redefined the meaning of 'low' and now we only wonder again - how low can they get????
I am baffled by the following.
1. How can our 'learned' DPM make such a fallacious statement that "the Government had only agreed in principle to the plan, subject to the condition that IJN’s social responsibility would not be compromised or lessened" knowing full well the implications of such a plan? Does he think we are morons or simpletons?
2. How he could say "should the takeover by Sime Darby be allowed, the Government’s contributions towards the operations of patients would continue as the Government would not simply abandon or sacrifice its social responsibilities". Does he not understand the meaning and difference of social goods and merit goods and the social responsibility of the government in providing these?
3. How can he declare that the deferment was due to was made due to the negative reaction from the public following the Government’s announcement that it had agreed in principle to the takeover plan? So does this mean that without public pressure they can bulldoze their way through to approve their devious schemes and plans? Obviously, he does not think before he speaks or acts and does not realize that this is a different Malaysia from what it used to be. We can think even if he cannot!
4. How could he have put the cart before the horse - declare the takeover plan, declare a deferment and then declare that the ministries of Finance and Health, and the Economic Planning Unit will carry out an in-depth study on the matter before making a final decision. Shouldn't the in-depth study be first on the list before an declaration?
This reversal in the sequence of events reminds me of Superman who wears his underpants outside!! If I were him, I would not know where to hide my face but then again, Mr. Pink Lips is so used to such 'achievements' that he can take it in his stride ...It appears that a significant number have no conscience and are content to play lackeys, lame dogs or yes-man to selfish brutes!
The whole matter is too dodgy!!!
I just hope that the rakyat will WAKE UP and VOTE OUT THE BN ASAP!!!
Doc,
the government is most probably trying to clear assests for financial gains. No more money in the coffers, so there is a need to top up for their pocket money. Then once pocket kosong, they will look for the next government asset to sell off. We are their are their sacrifial lambs.
Dear readers, sorry for the late reply. I was busy over the weekend and i was also trying to play around with the Firefox browser that was giving me some problems initially. Thanks for visiting my blog and do drop by when you have the time. Thanks
Mamasita,
you are right, the world congress of mental health that i attended 2 years predicted Heart problems and depression to be the number one and number two most disabling diseases respectively.
In Malaysia, the value of life comes in terms of dollars and cents. I don't mean to be a jerk, but look around us, the rich can afford to live a healthy life, just beacause they can afford to pay for quality healthcare. And quality healthcare is, most of the time, obtainable in the private sector as most of our best brains have drained away to 'greener pastures'. I've been there, done that and both the t-shirt too. Nothing's going going to change until there is real political will to change existing policies, attitude, working conditions and opportunities for promotion, all the hue and cry by our politicians will remain as mere rhetoric.

Paula,
your point of you is spot on. Luckily the nation rebounded with an uproar and credit should be given to the kind doctors of IJN who responded swiftly to reinforce their disagreement on the privatization. The government can say that the price for the poor/government will remain the same. To ensure this, the government will have to increase their subsidy when Sime Darby takes over and increases the price. This means more money out of the takes payers' pockets. Nice scheme right.
They plunder the nation and we are not allowed to question them.
It was K.Terengganu that came to our rescue i would say. BN is trying not to self destruct during the KT by-elections.

Krish,
now you know why we call the BN regime a bully, a corrupted government, an authoritarian government right. That's why we need change.
cheers
